****For MSc in Railway Systems Engineering and Integration (International degree program with University of Birmingham, UK), annual tuition fee in the first year (to study in India) would be Rs 1,25,000 and in the second year (to study in UK) would be £ 18,625 (as per prevailing fees at UoB). Travel and Living expenses are not included in the fee.

FINANCIAL AID

NRTI offers financial aid for up to 10% of the 2020-21 1st year admissions, for each of the following family income slabs. These will be extended to all programmes, offered in 2020-21, with the exception of second year of MSc in Railway Systems Engineering and Integration (International degree program with University of Birmingham, UK), offered by UoB.

Financial aid recipients will be based on eligible applicants’ ranking in the NRTI Entrance test (JEE score for B.Tech. students). 20% of the seats available for financial aid, under each Slab, are reserved for female candidates.

Tell me about NRTI and what makes it unique.

National Rail & Transportation Institute (NRTI) has been set up as a Deemed-to-be University by the Ministry of Railways and fully funded by the GOI, inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, to set up India's first University focused on transport-related education, multidisciplinary research and training.

NRTI is the first-of-its-kind university with a vision to develop a cadre of young graduates who are empowered problem-solvers with an actionable understanding of the transportation ecosystem.

NRTI’s path-breaking programmes, which commenced in 2018 with first batch of approximately 100 undergraduate students, have a unique pedagogical focus on experiential learning and practice and cutting-edge research and innovation, through the lens of management and technology.

NRTI offers an exclusive transformative learning experience and environment, both on campus under the guidance of its globally accomplished faculty and off it, with the Indian Railways as the practice hub, to transform graduates into responsible nation-builders.

Is NRTI a recognized university?

Yes. NRTI was declared a deemed to be university under de novo category vide notification No.F.9/1/2018-U.3 (A) issued by the Ministry for Human Resource Development on 26th July, 2018, and is fully funded by the GOI.

Are there other colleges affiliated to NRTI university?

No. There are no other colleges affiliated to NRTI university currently.

How will NRTI benefit from association with Indian Railways?

Indian Railways serves as a live and practical experiential learning laboratory for the student community as well as for faculty development initiatives at NRTI. In addition to the strong support from Indian Railways on curriculum tailored to meet objectives of transportation focused education, research & training, students also gain from unique access to facilities in Indian Railways including its laboratories, workshops, model rooms and research which complement their classroom-based education with experiential learning. This unique integration imparts a very distinctive character to the university.

Will day scholars be allowed for the Undergraduate programmes?

The Undergraduate programmes (BBA. BSc, B.Tech.) offered at NRTI are fully residential. As such, day scholars are not allowed for the same. Students pursuing postgraduate courses (MBA, MSc) will be allowed as day scholars.

Yes. You can visit the NRTI campus (Address: National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR) Campus, Lalbaug, Vadodara) and contact the admissions counsellor to know more about NRTI’s admissions process and get a tour of the campus .

What are the intended learning outcomes of an NRTI student?

As an NRTI student, you can expect to:

1. Enhance your technical and core skills in general management and technology focused on the transportation sector

2. Receive specialized academic training to think broadly and deeply across transportation-focused areas such as sustainable transport systems, urban and rural transportation, and transport economics, among others

How many students are currently enrolled at NRTI?

Currently approximately 200 students are enrolled at NRTI for two undergraduate programmes. NRTI commenced its operations in September 2018 with two undergraduate programmes (BBA in Transportation Management and BSc in Transportation Technology) and enrolled approximately 100 students each in the 1st and the 2nd year of its operation.
